Volunteers Needed to Knit and Crochet Children’s Winter Items

Snug Hugs for Kids™ Crochet & Knit-A-Thon is now underway

St. Charles, Illinois – Volunteers are now being recruited to knit and crochet children’s winter items for the Merlin Snug Hugs for Kids™ Crochet & Knit-A-Thon to benefit Children’s Home + Aid.

From now until December 11, participants can assist by crafting items such as mittens, hats, scarves, sweaters, slippers, afghans, and baby items (such as blankets, sweaters, caps, and layette sets) for children aged newborn to 18 years. All donated, handcrafted items will be combined with the winter outerwear collected during the Snug Hugs for Kids™ children’s winter outerwear drive sponsored by Merlin 200,000 Mile Shops from October 29 through December 11, 2012.

On Wednesday, December 12, Merlin franchisees, employees, and corporate staff will deliver the clothing to Children’s Home + Aid program centers.

Persons interested in volunteering can obtain a registration form from Merlin’s website at www.merlins.com/snughugs, at Merlin shops located in Illinois and Wisconsin, and at select yarn shops in Chicagoland.

On Saturday, November 3, 2012, a celebratory one-day Crochet & Knit-A-Thon event will take place at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Aurora. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is a great way to spend time with others, work on CKAT projects and view the hundreds of gorgeous items that will be donated to the children. Participants who cannot attend the event can drop off finished items at any Merlin 200,000 Miles Shop in Illinois or Wisconsin or ship them before December 12, 2012 to Merlin’s corporate office at 3815 E. Main St., Suite D, St. Charles, IL 60174.
